Tell me about Living in Tampa!!?

Im a female in my 20s and just accepted a job in Tampa. Can anyone tell me what its like to live there? Things to do: restaurants, bars, etc? Are there a lot of people my age living there? How is downtown Tampa? Thats where Ill be working, so I want to know if its safe? What are the best places to look for an apartment if I am working downtown? How far is the beach from there?

i’ve lived right outside of tampa my entire life. i love it. as far as restraunts go there is pretty much anthing you can imagine, the beach is about a 30 minute drive away. there are plenty of bars. lots of young people…i’m 21….downtown tampa has a lot of traffic. if you don’t mind not living in the city i would say the best place to find an apartment would be the mango/thonotosassa area…that is only a 15-20 minute drive. if you would like to live in the area then new tampa is a very nice, but expensive, place to live. that’s also about a 15-20 minute drive, depending on traffic. tampa is about as safe as any other big city. can’t really say much about that. just avoid certain areas …you’ll learn what those areas are when you get here so if i said street names now you wouldn’t know what i was talking about.
